instructions on membership of that group ought to be reinstated.  I
guess that putting in a configuration section in MesaLib is probably
the best place.  I'll do it if nobody objects, but I'm open to
alternative suggestions for where to add it.

 I'll then tweak my comments about acceleration in a couple of places
in the gnome stack.
