I have been using since the old lfs6.7 in the still dead-live hp
notebook and the NG desktop running lfs7.1 (both "svn"):

    ./NVIDIA-Linux-xxx.run                                     \
        --x-prefix=$(pkg-config --variable=prefix xorg-server) \
        --no-precompiled-interface
