I'm trying to build amarok and it can't find -lmysqld. Looking at my build of mysql, I did apply the embedded_library_shared-1.patch, but it does not seem to build libmysqld.
Just on a hunch I edited the main CMakeLists.txt and added ADD_SUBDIRECTORY(mysqld) and rebuilt. That seems to have created /usr/lib/libmysqld.* for me. I think the patch needs to be updated.
