I installed shared-mime-info-1.3.tar.xz but have been getting a lot of messages that look like:

kbuildsycoca4 running...
kbuildsycoca4(15352) KMimeTypeRepository::parents: "/usr/share/mime/subclasses" refers to unknown mimetype "application/vnd.ms-excel.sheet.binary.macroEnabled.12"

I think I've worked around this by editing /usr/share/mime/subclasses and deleting any line that has macroEnabled. These lines all had something to do with excel/powerpoint/ms-word.

I don't know if we need anything about this in the book or not, but without the fix, I get this with almost any kde based application run from a terminal.

I still get the "kbuildsycoca4 running..." message, generally about a minute after I terminate the program. Does anyone know how to suppress the message?
