It's other way around. Newer UPower doesn't work with pm-utils. It
*requires* systemd (logind) for suspend/hibernate functionality, whereas
it previously used pm-utils and consolekit combination or systemd,
depending on the setup.

His problem is rather that he's using UUID's for resume parameter, which
wont work unless you have an initramfs. I have resume=/dev/sda7 (where
/dev/sda7 is a 6 GiB swap partition) and it worked last time I tried it.
