When I made the previous build, vala was in my stack by the time I came to try lxde, so I did not think about it. Now that I have stopped building it, I notice things that might cause me to have problems. > > I did not understand if you are also implying or not that libunique is > required by lxsession. The book is correct for libunique, but I had missed that change (it was not needed when I last did this). > > Anyway, please, fix these dependencies in the book, whatever you do, I > agree. > > Please, > I'm very reluctant to touch things related to vala, because I do not understand how, or why, the dependencies arose. I believe vala is a language, and therefore some new packages, or parts of packages, might benefit from other packages installing vala bindings. But I do not have any specific details. I could flag vala as optional where I do not have to pass any options, but that might break things elsewhere. ISTR that at one time you had problems within the gimp stack (gegl or babl, probably) because you had built vala before that, whereas I only ever built vala when I had to (i.e. as late as possible). Certainly, for this one package it is not required. Got a problem with editing at the moment - I'm typing this on my server because my current desktop machine has stopped talking to it, and I've just started a _long_ backup on the desktop so don't want to reboot that. ĸen -- Nanny Ogg usually went to bed early.
