That got the cogs in my brain turning slowly - I will guess this is
a web font : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_typography#Web_fonts
(there is a pointer to doing something like this, from a css, at
http://www.sitepoint.com/how-to-use-cross-browser-web-fonts-part-1/
) - until now I've only noticed them as an alternative download for
lohit (Indian) fonts.  ISTR, probably from the lohit docs, that this
is a relatively new development - and SM is the old codebase.
