We could just drop the docs ;-) This is a more-extreme version of what happens with the binary texlive installer - that tarball keeps its name, but extracts to a dated directory and the book shows an md5 from a particular example, so at the moment it says '(for 20150613)' after the md5. For this particular tarball downloaded directly, I agree that the md5 is not going to be useful. I'm not sure where the version at anduin fits into this ?
