I have run into several problems that all involve the cdrom/dvd device
(/dev/sr0). Several apps do not play a movie properly: xine, parole,
mplayer. vlc dues play OK, but it requires 30 seconds to start with a
region protected disk.
I also have a problem with several cdrom/dvd burning apps: xfburn,
simpleburn, (and not in the book, cdrtools).
I don't really have a good idea where to look to solve the problem. I can
mount a data drive and read it OK. I can write an iso with xorriso.
I suspect some sort of driver problem, but what?
