Since I avoid xterm like the plague, except in occasional tests of
the book, and loathe the legacy fonts (like the bitmapped versions
of some Chinese fonts for small sizes, probably useful in the distant
past when 640x480 screens were common), I'm not sure what you are
saying.  Specifically:

"my resolution" - is this some sort of high DPI screen ?  For me,
resolution usually means things like 1024xsomething, 1280xsomething,
1680xsomething, 1920xsomething (and increasingly large monitors as
the resolution increases.

The more relevant metric is dots per inch. That is available in xdpyinfo. For my situation, it is about 96 DPI.
