Apart from DJ's suggestion to use the wiki (I'm somewhat dubious
about that, both because not even the editors all use it, and more
so because it doesn't get indexed by google: for a package in the
book there is a link to see if anything has been written, but for
other packages it is somewhat harder to get into the wiki), there is
the old-school "write a hint".

Yes, hints become outdated, but so does much of what is in the wiki.
