So, jhalfs thingk dbus only needs to be built once ?
The book recommends building it twice :

Xorg Libraries (for dbus-launch program) elogind-241.3 (first build
without, and then again after elogind is installed)
(yeah, I've now got to the point in terrying to update my scripts
where elogind has apparently appeared in trunk: following the
"discard and replace" process apparently worked well for the book,
but it's not exactly simple to follow unless I keep notes of past
branch changes).
