Hi,

I'm not 100% sure if this list is the correct place to post this,
since I think it details a change/clarification to the book, but here
it goes anyway:

The Fontconfig installation refers to the Docbook-utils package for
the building of documentation. However, when the docbook-utils package
is installed, the documentation is always built, i.e. it seems like
the "--disable-docs" option has no effect, in that the configure
script picks up the docbook-utils package and decides to build the
documentation.

Ok, that out of the way. The other (bigger) issue is that the
docbook-utils package only requires the "docbook-sgml-dtd 3.1"
package, not the 4.4 one in addition to the 3.1 package. At the same
time Fontconfig only lists an optional docbook-utils, but fails on the
document build with only the docbook-utils package (and dependancies
installed) without the docbook-sgml-dtd 4.4 package, i.e. the building
of the documents require this 4.4 dtd since it uses the OASIS SGML 4.1
DTD, listed as part of the 4.4 installation instructions.

I'm not sure if this requirement for the 4.4 dtd's is to be listed as
optional in fontconfig or docbook-utils, but for complete list
allowing fontconfig builds without errors, it is to be shown
somewhere.

Jaco

PS: Sorry about the cryptic message, I'm typing this quickly before
going off to bed ;)
