Solved my problem, so I will post it here for the masses. Problem was, the fonts were not being placed in the same directory that X thought they were. When I ran 'X -configure', the xorg.conf.new it produced pointed fonts to /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/... when they were in fact at /usr/X11R6/lib64/fonts/... So a simple fc-cache fixed it right up.
