I noticed a number of old posts on this problem, namely, that there is
no option to create an "RSS" or "Movemail" account in Thunderbird after
installing it, even though there is one in the source tree. The problem
is that for some reason the files that provide these options are not
copied to their system locations. A Mozilla bug report and patches can

(Note that you could also just copy by hand the two files mentioned by
the patches.)
I got this solution from the Mozilla news feeds; consider this kind of
thing another resource when you are having problems with your programs.
