ok, well i have just tried it with the supported
kernel provided with the live cd. i am still getting
the same problems, so i dont think it is an issue of
whether the kernel is a supported lfs kernel or not.

just to clarify, on bootup, does hotplug announce the
devices to udev so that the hardware can be loaded?
or does udev do itself.. i remember reading in a man
somewhere that udevstart "simulates" a hotplug event
to populate /dev. forgive my misuse of terminology..
im not too sure if i am using the proper words to
describe the function of udev. with that being said,
would it be udev not loading the device, or is it the
kernel, because when the device gets loaded, it is
before init is started.

i tried to use evdev instead of psaux so i could get
my horizontal working. but it turns out, that psaux
doesnt work either cause my mouse isnt even loaded.
