It may be a worthy goal but it is not the stated goal for LFS. There are
projects which are working on translation. That is a positive effort.
Since supporting everything is impossible we're left with the logical
approach of supporting only that which works most concisely approximates
foundation-level system functionality. Currently that happens to not be
Unicode everything.
From the book,"The goal of Linux From Scratch is to build a complete and
usable foundation-level system." The book already builds the kernel and
inetutils. Any advanced implementation of internationalization would
necessarily be left until BLFS.
Inetutils has something to do with internationalization?
Inetutils has to do with the definition of a foundation level system. In
decades past network access wasn't necessary for a foundation level
system. Since LFS is mainly an online community it logically follows that
inetutils is required to fulfill the definition of a foundation level
system.
So, you obviously didn't read Alexander's UTF-8 book or make any
Obviously I've answered anything worthwhile.
