Sounds like it will work. I think that the Cpio package is just a build requirement for the JDK. You'll have to take other dependencies for other packages on a case-by-case basis. Just make sure it is worth the trouble. The Cpio package puts on about 100K of files and then some locale stuff. Is it worth the time/trouble removing it?
