I am used to work on research and development., but this is a very hard case of try and error approach. Nevertheless, please continue helping, I will return efforts writing a hint for this terrible issue. ;-)
I did as you suggested and included the rule on 25-lfs.rules. firmware_helper is in /sbin/. However, after rebooting the first time I got: ----------------- ipw2200: Intel PRO/Wireless 2200/2915 Network Driver, 1.0.8 ipw2200 Copyright... ACPI: PCI Interrupt Link [LNKG] enabled..... ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:01:02:0[A] -> link [LNKG] -> GSI 10..... ipw2200: Detected Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection ipw2200: Failed to send TX_POWER: Commanda timed out. ..... ( the same error 5 times ) ipw2200: Unable to initialize device after 5 attempts ipw2200: failed to register... ACPI: PCI interrupt for device 0000:01:02:0 disabled ipw2200 probe of 0000:01:02.0 failed with error -5 ----------------- After a new reboot dmesg changed into: ---------------- ipw2200: Intel PRO/Wireless 2200/2915 Network Driver, 1.0.8 ipw2200 Copyright... ACPI: PCI Interrupt Link [LNKG] enabled..... ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:01:02:0[A] -> link [LNKG] -> GSI 10..... ipw2200: Detected Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection firmware_loading_store: unexpected value (0) ipw2200: ipw-2.4-bss.fw load failed: Reason -2 ipw2200: unable to load firmware: -2 ... ---------------- It seems that the firmloading problem turned to be the second one ( not ipw-2.4-boot.fw ) To Peter Feller's comments: firmware_helper is in /sbin. However, a run_x does not exist. iwconfig delivers: l0 no wireless extensions dummy0 no wireless extensions eth0 no wireless extensions Edgar -- --------------------- Dr.-Ing.
