Don't know if this is the right place to post this. xmms refused to start with message *** glibc detected *** free(): invalid pointer: 0xb7018644 *** I did some googling and found reports of a problem of flac-1.1.2 with xmms on Gentoo and slackware. A patch was reported on bugs.xmms.org ftp://ftp.slackware.at/slackware-current/source/ap/flac/xmms-plugin.diff.gz
I'am not a programmer and really don't know what the patch does. However, just tried it and it solved the problem. Maybe anyone of you experts round here can judge whether this makes sence and shoud be incorporated in the book.
