Apologies for not mentioning that (when I wrote the reply, I realized I should have tested that before). However, turning off optimization flags did not solve the problem. I did some more search on the subject and found there has been some debate about firefox 1.5 turning to the GTK filepicker, apparently for Gnome-unification reasons. You can change back to the built-in filepicker, which is liked better to some (including me). This workaround works nicely. http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?p=1783468&sid=25b198251a20b570b199705272dbc3a0#1783468
That's good to know, but I wish I understood what the issue was. I use the gtk file chooser in other applications and it works fine. If it makes you feel better, I had issues with firefox-1.5 and the gtk file chooser when I was on gnome-2.12, but it never crashed on me. It was extremely slow. With gnome-2.14 and gtk-2.8.16, it works great. Leo, if I create a firefox wiki page, could you put this info there? Just a blurb about how the gtk file chooser has issues and how you can change to not use it. -- Dan -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/blfs-support FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
