Hi,

I don't know why the folks in redmond think the swap file should
be used for ( it seems like... ) everything.

I always think of swap as the overflow file when there is not enough ram
to do the job. Windows keeps everything in the swap file unless it is
being used right now.

Right now in my windows box I have 2G of RAM. Available RAM is 1.6G
and the Page file is at 330Mb. One must ask, why isn't my page file
in RAM? I would still have > 1G of free RAM. I guess windows is waiting
for me to open that 1.5G Word document or that 1.5G pic of my wife. :)

My linux box seems much more healthy. 512Mb of RAM. Free RAM 57% and free swap space 100%.

Well, the folks at microsoft think this is the best way to manage
memory, I happen to disagree.

Shawn
