I never thought to try it for this but I am glad you did. The first link seems to be what I need for the driver. The second, I have downloaded all the source packages but what I have looked at so far seems to be geared mainly at x86 and I'm pure 64 bit so I may have some problems with that one. I'm going to take a look at the suggestion Dan had for the application part in all this. I have a question about the driver though. The source came down in what looks like a standalone format with it's own Makefile and all. I am assuming that what it will build is a kernel module. If in fact that is true how do I incorporate it into the system? Can I just copy it to /lib/modules/2.6.18 and include it in modprobe.conf or is there something else I need to do? Or heaven forbid do I have to include it in the kernel source tree and rebuild the whole kernel?
Dan, The kernel modules you gave are all built into the kernel but when I looked at the directory you pointed me to I did a grep through all the files for the model of my cam and had no hits so I'm guessing I need to use the driver Al found. Any suggestions on including it. Actually, before I go too far with this I had better try to compile that driver package and see if a module pops out. :-) I may be asking the wrong question. I'll be back! Thanks to both of you for all your great help!
