since installing gcc-3 i've been getting weird messages with the man command. for example...
$ man sysctl mandb: can't chmod /opt/gcc-3.3.6/man/index.bt: No such file or directory mandb: warning: can't update index cache /opt/gcc-3.3.6/man/index.bt: No such file or directory mandb: No databases updated.
