Seems I was engaged in wishful thinking. It turns out my card is one of the truly cheap ones that does NOT have onboard digital sound. The analog line that plugs into the sound card is the only sound available. Ispci revealed I had a cx2388x board Id that ends in a zero. This means no alsa sound. Now if only I could figure out if "Line Livedrive" is another name for "Line" and use that instead. Thanks and next time Ill be careful about shopping, John -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/blfs-support FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
