I usually take great care of what I do on my computer, with a little script. But I thought gtk+ was a piece of cake... Now I understand why you BLFS guys don't follow the progresses of the Gtk/Gnome team : these are no progress ! It's absolutely impossible to follow the successive versions and their dependencies :-( For example, even the README of the gtk+ packages don't mention a version of pango or atk. But this seems to be very important ! I had to use a dev version of pango to install the latest stable version of gtk+ ??? "So why did you install this lasst version, and not the one from the book ?", did I hear from the back of the room ? Good question :-) I tried, after messing a little. I tried to erase any new file, with help from my script, and a lot of "make uninstall", but I never was able to compile atk again :-( The version from the book complained about a 2.12.13 version of Glib, but I had completly erased this version, recompiling the 2.12.12 version... several times, with no effect : the configure script still detected the 13 version. After that, I tried something a little more recent, and this time it was pango which was no more detected. An inspection of the config.log showed that a routine was not implemented in the last stable version of pango... Djesus ! What a mess !!! At least, now, I'm back (on KDE, I don't use Gnome), and Claws seems to work. O tried to recompile it with the new gtk+ version installed, but the build complained about something concerning Gtk :-( The old lin works for Claws, Pan, but not Gqview. I hope I can recompile it :-( Thanks anyway for all your help. If this goes too far, I'll try to delete all the files I added in /usr/bin and /usr/lib from the past 2 days... Do you have a way to do this with find ? I tried -atime and -ctime, but couldn't see any recent file ??? \bye -- Nicolas FRANCOIS | /\ http://nicolas.francois.free.fr | |__| X--/\\ We are the Micro$oft. _\_V Resistance is futile.
