I have used stow (symlink style package manager,
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/library/l-stow/index.html),
paco (LD_PRELOADED style package management, http://paco.sourceforge.net/).

Some people find some tools more suitable than others. Currently I am
using unionfs based package management. And I still don't know which
package management system I will use
the next time I do LFS.
