Sorry for the delay, as I was spending some holydays. I had to build dhcp (dhcpclient ), after that wicd/wicd-client started working. Wicd, in my opinion, is a very good network manager and is worth to be considered as part of kde-4. It is better than the kde-3.5 kwifimanager. I could, unfortunately, not bring up knetworkmanager to run. So far my experiences.
