Thanks for your effort! Well, I'm using the open source radeon drivers. I tried a lot of options, including XAA and EXA. A couldn't see any difference. KMS: It doesn't matter if I have it or not I always have slow wm. In fact, I have KMS right now, because I wanted X without suid bit but I couldn't do it so far. I don't have direct rendering yet with KMS, but if I don't have KMS it only boosts 3d opengl. Windowing is the same slow. I have xorg-1.8.x in gentoo, installed it a few months ago, but it's slower than 1.6.x. I'm cursed.
