 The only two of those that I have are imake and xmkmf (from memory,
both come from 'imake' - I like to build an *ancient* version of
xsnow).  My XORG_PREFIX is /usr, and both of those are in /usr/bin,
so *if* you built them then they either aren't getting installed, or
they are somewhere else ('info find').

'mkdirhier' sounds like a typo, and I've not heard of some of the
others, but they don't sound like things that you necessarily
*need*.

 It does look as if what you are doing isn't quite the same as what
you think you are doing.  If you are scripting it, make sure that
errors cause the script to stop (I know, "do as I say, not as I
do" ;-)

 Alternatively, it's *possible* that some packages have been dropped
but the programs they installed are still listed.  Google should be
able to tell you which packages produce those programs if hte book
just lists them en masse.
