I am replying to support.

Here, it is ok.

Both with the same problem: key with / and ? (later with Shift) does
nothing.

Have no tried showkey in console. For xorg, xev does not respond to
pressing the key, or respond to Shift but then nothing for the key. It
is as if there is no key 211.

It is the same behaviour if the VM is running LFS, Windows, Arch, any
VM. I have even created a new VM to test with a live CD, still no such key.

So, the problem is with the vmware-player installation in the host
LFS7.1-svn.

The same machines have good keyboard when run with host Lubuntu, same
version of vmware-player, only kernel is older: from the 3.2 series.
Tomorrow, I will test first same kernel version, but with the huge size,
compiled with Lubuntu config, and then, an older 3.2 series kernel, with
my config.

I read the bug, and used some of the instructions there, to see if the
keyboard configuration was correct, and the answer is positive. The
configuration in the host LFS7.1-NG and VMWLFS7.1 are identical.

Contrary to the bug, the numeric pad keys . and , work well, the
solutions from the bug are incorporated in Xorg.

Thanks again fr your reply, Ken.

Anyone, any idea would be greatly appreciated.

I think I will post in some vmware list too, if I can't resolve.

My old HP notebook, when was not yet broken, had vmware-player installed
and working perfectly, hosted by LFS-6.7.
