 Yes, I've only built pure64 x86_64 LFS for the past few years.
The difference in LFS is that it has the /lib64 symlinks so it isn't
quite so 'clean'.

 Probably - last time I looked, I think one of the eglibc
maintainers was also on the glibc team.  For x86_64 native builds,
I doubt there is very much difference between eglibc and glibc
releases.

 Certainly nfs3/rpcbind works on LFS-7.2 but we did have a period
where not everything got installed.  No idea if your problems with
gssd are related.
