the page http://userbase.kde.org/Akonadi was of some help: one way to get some information about what is going on is to launch: ---------------- akonadictl start ---------------- You'll get a lot of more or less informative messages. If it tells you that the server is already running, type: ---------------- akonadictl stop ---------------- then start again. If the only thing that is missing is some agents, you might want to try to run kmail (*). I think it creates its own agents, for example when you use tools/account wizard.
