FWIF, for a Dell 3450 Vostro, if you do the following,
lspci | grep VGA

However, doing this, yielding more Intel info -

Kernel driver in use: i915
That suggested to me, per the kernel (see below) that the BLFS-listed Intel
graphics driver would work -
Device Drivers --->

Intel I810: Y or M
Intel 8xx/9xx/G3x/G4x/HD Graphics: Y or M
Enable modesetting on intel by default: Y
Trying to make radeon work, didn't work. Even when I finally added the
correct firmware and it seemed to initialize properly, it didn't quite
work. However, installing the "Xorg Intel Driver-2.99.916" (
http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/view/stable/x/x7driver.html#xorg-intel-driver)
worked right away!
Anyway, I learned so much from the experience, and now I will do the Gnome
BLFS and other stuff to continue to expand the X Window base.
