connected to internet after the tarballs have been downloaded, which
means that no required instruction in the book use mercurial (or git, or

Well, one could use the patch to generate a new tarball of the source for OpenJDK, so that one doesn't need to download all the other tarballs currently listed in the instructions separately, which would significantly simplify the build instructions.
