I tried it manually following BLFS with same error.
I've had the same problem and did not have time to debug. Since it was
on a 32 bit VM, I was not sure it would happen on a 64 bit machine. I
have no way to look at that now (I am at my father's home, with no good
platform for development). Scons and serf are not really necessary, if
you do not plan to use http:// repositories with subversion. So you may
want to skip them as a workaround.
