Bill, Thank you for trying. I will try to figure out something. Lois ----- Original Message ----- From: Bill Gallik To: blind-computing@jaws-users.com Sent: Saturday, June 16, 2007 2:22 PM Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] Readability of Scanned Documents -Was:pdfhelp needed
Lois, I've been trying to run the document through the KESI Virtual Printer rather than printing it on paper, but it's not going very well at all. First, the contents are very poorly recognized. And second and even worse, when I try to save the "printout" Kurzweil crashes. I've tried several times with same results. I guess Lenny's idea of printing the document and then scanning it is the only way to get the document in an accessible format unless you can go to the source and inquire what they might be able to do for you. Sorry this didn't work out as I'd suggested -- it's worked for me before but this time it's not working well at all. ---------------- Bill Gallik E-Mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] God made man before woman so as to give him time to think of an answer for her first question. * * * * * * * - "Democracy means that anyone can grow up to be president, and anyone who doesn't grow up can be vice president." - Johnny Carson - "We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful what we pretend to be." - Kurt Vonnegut ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lois" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <blind-computing@jaws-users.com> Sent: Saturday, June 16, 2007 12:09 PM Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] Readability of Scanned Documents - Was:pdfhelp needed Bill, Could you explain how this is done with the KESI Virtual Printer ? We have an older version of Kurzweil. Does that make sense? Hi Lenny, Well, I guess you've answered my unknown. I presume that the HP scanning software might yield similar results in that scanning a document as a text document will produce a file that I could then access with JAWS. It makes perfect sense to print the PDF and then scan it. But since I have Kurzweil I can eliminate the steps of printing the PDF and then loading the paper into the scanner bed. By virtue of the KESI Virtual Printer provided in Kurzweil 1000 I can pass the PDF directly into Kurzweil by specifying to print that PDF with the KESI Virtual Printer (rather than my HP PSC). It saves paper, time and effort. ---------------- Bill Gallik E-Mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] God made man before woman so as to give him time to think of an answer for her first question.
