Hi Patricia, Several programs will record text files and save them as mp3, or wav files. I hesitate to use the word convert, since there really isn't any conversion going on. With these programs, a synthesized voice is reading the text file loaded into the program and it is being recorded. You don't hear it, because it isn't being piped to the speakers. OpenBook version 6 and up will do the same thing to documents that have been scanned, and will tell you when it is finished. Now, for the blind individual, it would be simple enough to set your screen-reader to it's say-all function, and use a recording app to save it to a audio file. However, for any computer user, it would be much simpler to use a free program such as say-it, or say-pad to load the file into and let it do the work. No matter which option is used, the text is going to be read and recorded by a synthesized voice. The only way to get a human voice to read the text in question, is to have a person read the text while being recorded. Say-it, will save recordings in .wav format, and you can find it on the audio page of the list website. I believe say-pad will save in mp3, but it is not on the site, and I don't know why. smile HTH, Richard Justice www.blind-computing.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Patricia" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <blind-computing@jaws-users.com> Sent: Monday, July 09, 2007 6:42 PM Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] KCONVERTING TEXT FILES TO VOICE FOR RECORDING
