Hi Chris John R. here

when you get in to the Windows live messenger window you should straight
away land on your list of contacts no need to tab to anything because for a
blind user most of the links you can tab to and the buttons aren't
descriptive enough.
arrowing up and down does move from contact to contact.
please note though, the first place you land on at the top of the contacts
is a sort of search box so typing a letter will only put the letter in that
search box so arrowing down and pressing enter on the contact you want to
message or the applications key and choosing an option to do a message or
make a windows live call is how you do it

once you've got a contact window open ready to write a message, F6 moves you
from the input window to the hystory window
after you've wrote a message and pressed enter to send it you will stay in
the input field. just the same as if you are in the hystory window and you
start typing or get a new message most of the time especially when you start
typing a message the cursor jumps in to the input field automatically and
you can navigate the input window and the hystory window once your in them
with the arrow keys. don't tab around in here though because there again is
links and buttons for jaws and other screan readers that aren't labled
correctly

Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] Navigating Windows Live Messenger

HI. Oh, I'll have to play around with it some more and see. The F6 wasn't
toggling between the input field and history window for me the other day,
though.

Well, let me ask this. once logged on in Windows Live Messenger, what would
you say is the quickest way to get to the list of online contacts? I have
to tab around through countless links to find it. There are useless links
all over the place in that main window.

Hi Chris John R. here
I've got the latest version and it works just like MSN 7.5 and with my
version it toggles back and forward with F6 and when your on your list of
contacts you will hear the headings of your groups, friends, family other
etc. and just arrow down and you can keep going I've found there isn't much
layout or other things different just mainly there are quite a few new
features

Hi. Now that I've been forced to upgrade to Windows Live Messenger from MSN
messenger 7.5, I've noticed some things are aggravatingly different. For
example, F6 no longer toggles between the input field and the history window
which drives me nuts. Does anyone know how I now can toggle back and forth?
In fact, does anyone have a list of hot keys that would help navigate within
this new version? I'm having to tab all over the place just to locate the
online contacts or anything else I'm looking for. Surely there are
shortcuts. Thanks.
