Hi John,
Annette gave you some very sound advice, and I would just like to add to
what she has said.
Once you have identified the cable for the mouse,
unplug it, and then make a small loose knot in the cord next to the plug.
I choose the mouse cable because it is smaller in diameter than the keyboard
cable which is also a PS2 connection.
More than likely, you will only have two of these connectors, and they will
be located together on the back of the computer.
As for USB cables, Annette is correct in that the device doesn't care where
it is plugged in,
however, the operating system may see the device as a new piece of hardware.
As was already suggested, make yourself a Word, or text file, describing the
layout of the back
panel of your machine, so that you won't have to remember where everything
goes.
Once you have traced a cable to it's device, mark it in some fashion, and/or
make a note of it in your file for future reference.
All connections will only fit one way.
For a blind computer user, here is the most importantconnection:
The audio cable
There are no doubt several jacks on your soundcard, so make sure that you
identify the one you are useing
before you disconnect the plug, and make a note of it.
Nothing is more frustrating then getting everything back in place, and then
having no sound for speech. smile
Any more questions, stay tuned to the list, there are a lot of people here
with excellant ideas and suggestions.
HTH,
Richard Justice
