Hi Veactor,
There is actually a way to change Control
Panel appearance back to classic list: At the
Control Panel, go to Swsdch to Classic mode
button and press the left mouse button (on
the touchpad).
To permanently turn off Hibernation in
Windows Vista, go to Start, type cleanmgr
then press ENTER. When the Disk Cleanup on
Drive (letter) appears, place a check on
"Hibernation File" then tap on OK (tap here
means press ENTER). At the screen that
appears, tap on OK button (just press ENTER).
The Hibernation file (hiberfil.sys) is gone
along with Hibernate option.
To keep Hibernation, just do not place a
check on the Hibernation File checkbox.
Cheers,
Joseph

>Subject: [Blind-Computing] Hybernation Mode
on Windows Vista Machines

>Hi Folks,

>My Wife just got a new laptop running Windows
Vista Business Edition.

>This is a first for me, as I am a true XP
man, through and through.

>As you can tell, I prefer the XP version of
the machine, but as we got this
>laptop for half the price of what it should
have been, well, I just couldn't
>argue with that. Smile.

>In any case, I simply can't find where the
heck to shut off the computer's
>hibernation mode.

>I have seen the whole sleep mode and all, I
have gone into her power
>management settings, but still couldn't find
it.

>In previous versions of Windows, Hibernation
had it's own tab in the power
>management dialog box, but Vista uses links
to navigate it's settings, so as
>stated, this is new to me.

>Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

>Victor
