Ok. Don't know the guys you've signed up with, and I can't currently remember too many technical details since they're also relatively specific to the provider/the people who administer certain domains (like register.com for most .com domains), but basically you need to add an A entry to your domain definition since that defines a specific hostname (the first part of a host entry), which would then, on the actual DNS server storing your entries references point to a specific IP address, which, FWIW can also obviously be the same machine as the www entry since they basically listen on different ports.
Hope this makes sense, and what it basically comes down to is that whomever is running your DNS entries/server must add the necessary host reference for the domain.
