Evening all. First some background. The following is a scenario which
occurs way too frequently on many lists I'm on. For example, a person will
cross post to, let's say, four other lists. And let's say I'm also on those
four lists. Instead of one email, I've now received sixteen identical
emails. that's four that appear on each list. Mull over that. Sixteen
copies of one email. That's a lot. In actuality, if I'm on all four lists,
without the cross posting I should expect to receive a maximum of four
identical emails. Now that's to be expected and is perfectly
understandable... but not sixteen.

Now when you consider that this type of behavior is all too common, I face
hundreds of identical emails a day. I'm sure many of you can relate. The
problem grows at an exponential rate and is out of control in a short period
of time. Also, I can literally reach my on-line email limit with so many
repeats if I'm away for just a few days and can't clear out my inbox before
it's too late.

And now I come to the reason I bring this up here. My question is there any
way with Outlook 2003 to set it up to automatically delete all cross posts
and leave me with just one email? Since there seems to be no sign that this
poor email etiquette is on the decline, I'm hoping that I can take the bull
by the horns so I don't have to continue spending more time deleting
repeated emails than reading my messages.

Naturally, Outlook won't be able to take care of all the repeated emails
on-line that eat up my email storage before I can download them.

FYI, grouping by conversation doesn't work for me because when I set my
folders up that way they're no longer in any order that makes sense. In
Outlook XP, this method worked better because grouping by conversation put
the newest grouped emails at the top where I could easily find them. But
now in Outlook 2003, they can be anywhere. In other words, if I group by
conversation, it actually takes me longer to scroll through all my
email-from top to bottom which is a lot-- to find the particular groups I
wish to delete. Anyway, I felt I needed to explain why grouping by
conversation and then deleting the thread is not a viable option. Believe
me, I've tried repeatedly, but Outlook 2003 and XP are two different animals
in this regard.

That being said, if anyone's got any suggestions for how to thwart this
annoying cross post habit some people have, I would be extremely grateful.
Thank you very much.
