Hi: I am having a problem at work with JAWS being so sluggish that I sometimes have to refresh my screen every time I hit enter. Sometimes I can't even tab through fields properly without constantly refreshing the screen with JAWS key escape. Sometimes when I take a call, all the fields that I've filled in disappear in Braille though they are still there and the labels for the fields still show. We are on a network. The problem is intermittant, but is there more than not. Every time it gets bad enough I have to reboot my system quite often several times a day. I am running Windows 2000 on a del 460 something computer with JAWS 9.0.2169 and a power Braille 80. I was hoping the update would change things, but it didn't. Yesterday everything worked perfectl for the most part, and I didn't even have to reboot, but today was another story Now you see what I mean by intermittent? as usual. The problems all started with the upgrade of Oracle. what a nuisance that program is. I guess what I would like to know is if there is anything that somebody could suggest that myself or systems could do to make JAWS run more efficiently. I've had a programmer write some navigation scripts for me or I would really have a disaster. We've also installed the newest version of Java Access Bridge as Oracle is now internet based. I'm about to throw in the towel and I'm not a quitter. I'm tired of complaining about the issue and driving my coworkers and systems up a tree. I've probably been dealing with this for a good three months now. Programming denies changing anything from day to day.. If it was the video driver or something on the computer, wouldn't my Braille display stop working altogether? It sure makes it hard to sound professional when you can't even tell what you are doing. Any ideas whatsoever would be appreciated, because I don't like doing my job poorly.
