Hi David,

Go into your control panel, then highlight the Power Options and press
enter.

You'll land on the power schemes page.

tab down and highlight the always on selection.

tab down to modify these scheme, such as when the computer should shut off
the hard disk, the monitor and the sleep mode.

If you don't want it to do any of these things, arrow down to the option
that says never for each of the devices.

You will, or should, rather, encounter two versions of each of the devices.
The first option is for when it's working with AC power, and the second
option is for when the computer is using battery power.

Not sure if this is the case for a desktop, but you'll find that out in
short order.

Once you've done that, control+tab over to the hibernate tab, and make sure
that the checkbox that says enable hibernation is not checked.

Once you've done all these steps, tab down to the apply button, press the
spacebar, then shift+tab back to the ok button and press the spacebar again.

AT this point, you'll be good to go.
