I think the solution varies on each laptop. Some laptops have a button to
turn the mouse pad on and off. Others use a software control in the Mouse
applet in Windows Control Panel. I believe that some still further have a
system tray control to toggle the mouse pad on and off.

On my laptop none of these options were available and I had to stop the
mouse pad working by an adjustment at BIOS setup with sighted help. You can
normally enter your BIOS setup by pressing a key combination when your
laptop starts to boot. Again this key combination can vary.

Sorry if this is not too helpful but it might point you to places to look.

Regards

David Griffith

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Changing mouse pad settings on laptop

Hello All,

I recently had to get a new hard drive in my Del Inspiron laptop. So of
course everything is back to the factory settings. My mouse pad is set so
that if you touch and release it causes the mouse to jump to a new spot on
the screen and click. I want to turn off the click part, and cannot
remember where to do this. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Thanks,
Annette
