Patricia, actually, the auto thing is the download but you have to ok the installation as you probably discovered. It seems to me that microsoft sent e mails or popups once upon a time but now I have to check the system tray now and then to see that updates are ready for my computer. Maybe we checked something on the ms home page at the time we turned on auto updates. marilyn
