I believe that I last ran into this in 2002, when the computer had trouble keeping up. I am not sure, but at the time I had the option to go from the "blazing" speed of 4x to 2x. That refers to 4 times faster than audio playback. Have not checked lately, but I think they commonly burn at least 16x now.
