The free version will not perform a scheduled scan only the paid version
will do that.

My sighted cousin installed Avast for me. It seems to be doing it's thing
at all times. Do I need
to schedule it for regular scans? Or, is it doing what it is supposed to
do at all times? If I do
need to run a scan manually, or schedule the scans, could someone please
tell me how to do it?
Sorry for such vague and simple questions, but I have never used this
program and I know absolutely
nothing about it.
