Hi Stuart, there's the free Audacity. There's also the commercially
available Adobe Audition, which has been taken over from Cool Edit Pro.

I am still using the IE 6. I got the following problem: Whenever I open
activate a website, my computer starts working more and more slowly while
the explorer is active, so when I press a key, jaws responds after some 5
seconds!
